What Makes MTS Treatment Work? A Comprehensive Breakdown
Microchanneling Therapy System (MTS) treatment is a cutting-edge, minimally invasive skincare procedure that combines the regenerative power of microneedling with the targeted delivery of potent topical solutions. Unlike traditional skincare methods that rely solely on surface absorption, MTS creates microchannels in the epidermis, enabling active ingredients to penetrate deep into the dermal layer—where they can exert maximum therapeutic effect.
This synergistic approach not only stimulates the skin’s natural healing mechanisms but also enhances the bioavailability of key nutrients and growth factors, resulting in visibly smoother, firmer, and more radiant skin. Below is a detailed exploration of the core components that make MTS treatment highly effective for anti-aging, texture refinement, and overall skin rejuvenation.
Core Mechanisms Behind MTS Effectiveness
Microneedling: Triggering Natural Regeneration
The foundation of MTS lies in microneedling—a process where a precision medical device, such as a derma pen, uses ultra-fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. These microscopic punctures do not damage the skin but instead activate the body’s innate wound-healing cascade.
This process significantly boosts the production of two essential structural proteins: collagen and elastin. Collagen provides strength and volume, while elastin contributes to skin elasticity. Over time, increased levels of these proteins lead to improved skin firmness, reduced fine lines, and a more youthful complexion.
Transdermal Solution Infusion: Deep Delivery of Actives
What sets MTS apart from standard microneedling is its ability to simultaneously infuse customized serums directly into the dermis. Traditional topical products often fail to penetrate beyond the outermost layer of skin due to the skin’s natural barrier function.
With MTS, the microchannels created by the derma pen temporarily bypass this barrier, allowing high concentrations of therapeutic ingredients—such as growth factors, peptides, and antioxidants—to be delivered precisely where they are needed most. This dramatically increases absorption efficiency and treatment outcomes.
Combination of Growth Factors & Nutrients: Customized Skin Repair
MTS treatments utilize advanced, medical-grade formulations tailored to individual skin concerns. These typically include a powerful blend of bioactive compounds:
- Growth Factors: Signaling proteins that accelerate cell turnover and tissue regeneration, promoting faster healing and reducing signs of aging.
- Vitamins (C, B3): Antioxidants that brighten skin tone, protect against free radical damage, and support collagen synthesis for a healthy, even glow.
- Peptides: Short chains of amino acids that communicate with skin cells to stimulate collagen production and improve texture and firmness.
- Hyaluronic Acid: A superior hydrator capable of holding up to 1,000 times its weight in water, plumping the skin and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Enhanced Efficacy Through Synergy
The true power of MTS lies in the synergistic relationship between microneedling and transdermal infusion. While microneedling alone can improve skin texture, combining it with deep serum delivery multiplies the benefits.
Studies show that transdermal absorption of active ingredients increases by up to 1,000-fold when delivered via microchannels compared to surface application. This means that nutrients reach the target cells in effective concentrations, leading to faster, more noticeable results with fewer sessions required.
Additionally, because the treatment is minimally invasive with little downtime, it’s ideal for individuals seeking significant improvements without the risks associated with lasers or surgery.
| Component | Primary Benefit | Key Ingredients Involved |
|---|---|---|
| Microneedling | Stimulates collagen & elastin production | Fine needles (0.25–2.5mm depth), derma pen technology |
| Transdermal Infusion | Enhances absorption of actives by up to 1000% | Hyaluronic acid, peptides, antioxidants |
| Growth Factors | Accelerates cell renewal and tissue repair | EGF, TGF-β, FGF (recombinant human proteins) |
| Nutrient Complexes | Improves tone, texture, and hydration | Vitamin C, Niacinamide (B3), amino acids |
Important: For optimal results and safety, MTS treatments should be performed by licensed skincare professionals using sterile, medical-grade devices and FDA-compliant serums. At-home devices may not provide the same level of precision or efficacy and could pose risks if used improperly. Always consult with a dermatologist or aesthetician to determine the best treatment plan for your skin type and concerns.
Commercial Use Cases of MTS Treatment

How to Appropriately and Safely Use MTS Treatments
Microchanneling Therapy System (MTS), commonly known as microneedling with infusion, is a cutting-edge skincare treatment that delivers transformative results when performed correctly. By creating micro-injuries in the skin and infusing targeted serums, MTS stimulates collagen production, improves skin texture, reduces fine lines, and enhances overall skin tone. However, the effectiveness and safety of the treatment depend heavily on proper pre-care, in-clinic procedures, and diligent after-care. This comprehensive guide outlines best practices to ensure optimal outcomes and minimize risks.
Safety Warning: MTS should only be performed by licensed and trained skincare professionals. Attempting at-home microneedling without proper sterilization and technique can lead to infection, scarring, or hyperpigmentation. Always consult with a dermatologist or aesthetician before beginning any new skin treatment regimen.
Comprehensive Guide to MTS Treatment: Pre-Care, During, and Post-Care
- Pre-Treatment Care: Preparing Your Skin for Optimal Results
Proper preparation is essential to maximize the benefits of MTS and reduce the risk of complications. Begin preparing your skin 3–5 days before your scheduled session:
- Avoid blood-thinning medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or other NSAIDs unless prescribed by a physician, as they may increase the risk of bruising and bleeding during treatment.
- Discontinue use of alcohol and dietary supplements that thin the blood, including fish oil, omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin E, and ginkgo biloba, at least 48–72 hours prior to your appointment.
- Arrive at your appointment with a completely clean face—free of makeup, sunscreen, moisturizers, or perfumed products—to allow for effective disinfection and needle penetration.
- Your provider may recommend a pre-treatment skincare regimen tailored to your skin type. This often includes using topical retinoids (like retinol) or gentle exfoliants (such as lactic or mandelic acid) to enhance cellular turnover and prime the skin for better serum absorption.
- Refrain from other aggressive treatments such as chemical peels, laser therapy, or waxing at least one week before MTS to avoid over-sensitizing the skin.
- During the MTS Treatment: What to Expect
The actual MTS procedure typically lasts between 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area and the depth of needling. Here’s a step-by-step breakdown of what occurs during your session:
- Your skincare specialist will begin by cleansing your face thoroughly with a medical-grade antiseptic solution to eliminate bacteria and prevent infection.
- A topical numbing cream (usually containing lidocaine) will be applied and left on for 20–30 minutes to minimize discomfort. Most patients report only mild sensations during treatment when properly numbed.
- The MTS device—a precision handheld tool with fine, sterile needles—will be gently glided across targeted areas of the skin. The micro-needles create controlled micro-channels that trigger the body’s natural healing response.
- Simultaneously, a customized serum—rich in hyaluronic acid, growth factors, peptides, or vitamins—is infused directly into the dermis through these channels, maximizing absorption and efficacy.
- You may feel light pressure, a mild pinching sensation, or slight vibration, but significant pain should not occur. If discomfort arises, inform your provider immediately.
- After the needling and infusion process, a calming mask or soothing gel (often containing aloe vera, niacinamide, or centella asiatica) is applied to reduce redness and support recovery.
- Post-Treatment Care: Healing and Protection for Lasting Results
Aftercare plays a crucial role in determining the success of your MTS treatment. The skin will be in a vulnerable state immediately following the procedure and requires gentle handling to promote healing and prevent complications:
- It is normal to experience redness, mild swelling, and a sunburn-like sensation for 12–48 hours post-treatment. These effects typically subside within two to three days.
- Apply a fragrance-free, soothing serum or recovery balm recommended by your provider. Ingredients like aloe vera, panthenol, peptides, or madecassoside help calm inflammation and support skin barrier repair.
- Avoid using active skincare ingredients such as retinoids, alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs), beta-hydroxy acids (BHAs), or vitamin C for at least 5–7 days, as they can irritate freshly treated skin and delay healing.
- Do not exfoliate manually (scrubs, brushes) or undergo additional aesthetic treatments until your skin has fully recovered—usually after one week.
- Keep your skin well-hydrated with a gentle, non-comedogenic moisturizer to support the regeneration process.
- Sun protection is non-negotiable. Wear a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher every day—even indoors—as UV exposure can lead to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, especially in individuals with darker skin tones.
- Refrain from touching, picking, or scratching the treated area to avoid introducing bacteria and causing scarring.
- For 48 hours after treatment, avoid hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, and intense workouts that cause excessive sweating, as heat and perspiration can increase irritation and infection risk.
| Phase | Key Actions | Avoid | Recommended Products |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pre-Care (3–5 Days Before) | Cleanse skin, use pre-treatment actives (retinol, mild exfoliants) | Blood thinners, alcohol, supplements, makeup | Gentle cleanser, retinol, hydrating toner |
